Steelcom Engineering was formed in August 2000 as a result of Telkom’s outsourcing policy. Initially Steelcom continued supplying products and services to the communication industry, but in the last 10 years, it has transformed into a versatile engineering company, offering a wide range of products and services to various industries.

Steelcom offers steel fabrication of small to large sized products and structures as well as turnkey solutions for various projects.  These services are backed up by our design, drafting, installation and erection services.  As a result of continued expansion, Steelcom Engineering moved to new purpose built premises in Southgate Business Park, Umbogintwini, KZN in January 2010 which is serviced by an overhead gantry crane.

Steelcom is a Qualifying Small Business Enterprise, is a Level 5 BBBEE service provider and is registered with the CIDB and SASSDA..

We have a fully equipped 1500m² premises and we operate on the ISO 9002 & NOSA quality and safety management systems obtained previously with Telkom.

We operate a custom developed job card and production planning systems to ensure that we offer a prompt, professional service with excellent turn around times on jobs.

The Moroccan Project was similar to the Durban A1 Grand Prix Project, as far as the Debris fencing was concerned, but also included the following:

  • The making of 20 moulds for concrete crash barriers that were to be cast on site in Marrakech.
  • 2500 of each top & bottom debris fencing panels.
  • Male & Female posts for the fitting of the debris panels to the concrete crash barriers.
  • 3 storey control tower.
  • 2 storey pit structure with VIP suites.
  • Over tack gantry
  • Starter stand for controls.
  • Brackets for crowd control.

All of the above was containerized and shipped to Morocco.
